Image Tool for Mac
==================

Which download?
  - Apple Silicon (M1, M2, M3, M4 and later): Image-Tool-<version>-mac-apple-silicon.zip
  - Older Intel Macs: Image-Tool-<version>-mac-intel.zip
Not sure? Apple menu > About This Mac: "Chip: Apple M..." means Apple Silicon.

Requires macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later. macOS 15 or later is officially supported.

Install
  1. Double-click the zip to unpack it. You'll get "Image Tool.app".
  2. Drag "Image Tool.app" into your Applications folder.
  3. The first time only, macOS blocks it because it isn't from the App Store or
signed by a registered Apple developer. To allow it, open Terminal and run:

         xattr -cr "/Applications/Image Tool.app"

     then open Image Tool normally.

(Instead of Terminal: try to open it, click Done, then go to
System Settings > Privacy & Security, scroll down and click "Open Anyway".
If macOS says the app is "damaged", use the Terminal command above.)

Opening pictures
Right-click a picture > Open With > Image Tool, or drag it onto the window or Dock icon.
Cmd+V pastes a screenshot (Cmd+Ctrl+Shift+4 copies part of the screen).

Making Image Tool the default for a kind of picture
Right-click a picture > Get Info > Open with: Image Tool > Change All...

Uninstall
Drag "Image Tool.app" from Applications to the Bin.
Preferences are in ~/.config/ImageTool (safe to delete).
